PHOTOS: How many cops does it take to guard an empty beach?
Friday evening, a large group of Chicago police officers were assembled at North Avenue Beach, 1600 North Lake Shore Drive.
According to pictures provided by Chicago News Report reader, Tim, an estimated seventeen officers were present.
But why were there so many cops at North Avenue Beach, today?
It was approximately 60 degrees outside, cloudy, and as you can tell by the photos, the beach was virtually empty.
I certainly hope the CPD was not guarding an empty beach.

This was a police roll call. :)
ReplyDeletelooks like they are standing around wasting the taxpayers money to me. no wonder there are so few cops on the streets! they are at the beach!
ReplyDeleteOMG! This is so right on! I thought the same thing as I passed by on my run. There were cops on horses, bikes, in cars, and on foot. Civilians were clearly outnumbered.
ReplyDeleteThat was a loooooong roll call, Rudy. :-)
ReplyDeleteThe top two pictures were taken 90 minutes before the bottom two.
Tim, with so many officers present, the roll call takes a loooooong time. :)
ReplyDeleteAn hour an 30 minutes for a roll call?!!! No wonder the thugs are getting away with robbing us blind!
ReplyDeleteI was just on Mag Mile; the crowd had a much lighter complexion than I have ever seen it. Sorry to say that even law-abiding Black folks may be staying away due to fear of being mistaken for troublemakers.
ReplyDeleteMany cops; four POs standing outside the Walgreens at Michigan and Chicago. I didn't check out the McDonalds on State/Chicago, but presume the police presence is heavy.
This is a joke. I guess Rahm wants us all to get beat up and killed. Is he TRYING to start a race riot?!
ReplyDeleteMy guess is they based it on last week's crowd and didn't adjust their assignments for the weather.
ReplyDeleteI was down there this afternoon. There were plenty of "shoppers" of every color down there shopping. Missing? Hords of ghetto thugs causing problems. NOTHING going on at the MacDonalds either. What a difference some arrests make:) Maybe it's just a night thing?
ReplyDeleteDon't blame it on Rahm, blame it on the ghetto thugs who don't know how to act in public...they're the reason the CP are everywhere and they're the ones people are looking out for. NO ONE ELSE.
That McDonald's is the cause of some of their own problems, as well as other problems in the area. There are scores of people just hanging out in there. Not eating, just loitering Chicago-style.
ReplyDeleteSchool is over but, CPD puts Officers in spots that make you go..What? Why?
ReplyDeleteLike I have mentioned there is a Officer in his patrol car watching over the students from Scared Heart Academy (private school) every afternoon, why is a officer not patrolling the neighborhood for approx 1hr? I could see if it was a CPS but private??
Wow some of you guys are never happy. Either not enough cops, or too many cops. Be glad they're out and not sitting at a desk somewhere. Maybe they took a slow day to plan out their patrols for the next hot day. Time will tell how well Rahm's plans work, the thugs got in the first punch. Let's see how this summer plays out.
