Some time around 8:30 p.m., a man driving a U-Haul truck snatched a woman’s purse in Wicker Park.
The crime happened on the 1800 block of West Division Street near Division and Honore, said police.
The U-Haul truck, which bears an Arizona license plate, was last seen going northbound on Honore.
According to authorities, the purse snatcher used the victim’s stolen credit cards to purchase hundreds of dollars worth of CTA bus passes.
A detailed description of the offender was not provided.
Police are investigating.

A few years ago, there was a gang of thieves operating with a home base in a taxi parked at the Granville Red Line station. The taxi driver would hand out CTA passes to his gang and they would use them to go into the station and rob people on the escalators. It's possible that is why they wanted the passes or it may be that CTA passes are easy to sell with no questions asked.
