While most of you were sleeping, a gang of nine black men, decided to harass the customers at a North Side bathhouse.
At approximately 3:24 a.m., a group of troublemakers blocked the entrance at Steamworks at 3246 North Halsted Street.
According to police dispatch, the small mob was intimidating the customers as they entered and exited the building.
It's unclear if authorities made contact with the suspects.
A police car was dispatched to handled the 3:24 a.m. 911 call, around 3:28 a.m.
Ok, let's talk away their welfare and Section 8 if they want to attack us. See how long they last.

Helpless is quite a condescending way to refer to "homosexuals." As I've said to straight male intimidators many times, "how would you like your girlfriend to know you got your a** kicked by a gay guy?" We're not all fruitcake characatures from a 50's beach flick.

Start complaining to the Center on Halsted about all the crime happening in the neighborhood because of ALL the ghetto thugs, who are "playing" at being gay, that the center INVITES into the neighborhood. There is no reason why 9 black ghetto thugs are hanging around Halsted at ANY time of the day EXCEPT to cause trouble. I don't remember EVER seeing that size group of gay people EVER walking on Halsted UNLESS it's for Market Days or the Parade activities and even than..9? Come on people, forget about being PC unless you think it's ok to be a victim...The Alderman's not helping, the police are somewhere else, we can't carry SO, it's time to start fighting back! What other choices are there?

ReplyDeleteAs far as the welfare issue, I think taking away their welfare will make them MORE likely to want to steal.
EVERYONE should start calling 911 for everything they feel is even SLIGHTLY suspicious. The crime stats determine where the officers are sent. How many times do you let someone break something, or steal something and NOT report it. REPORT EVERYTHING - you can do it online or via 311. Once they start getting the stats in, the city will see just how much crime really goes on here.
Also, call on ANYONE slightly suspicious. The police cannot (should not) profile anyone, but we can! We can see anyone who looks "out of place" and call the police and say, "There is someone looking suspicious" the 911 person may ask why, but just tell them they are acting in a way which looks suspicious - loitering where they shouldn't be, hanging out near a car, or ANYTHING. The police will the come and decide if they are doing something wrong or not. The more we call, the more the police HAVE TO RESPOND.

Why does 'The Center on Halsted' seem to get so much blame for the recent crime wave? I live a block and a half from The Center and shop at the Whole Foods several times a week. I've seen small groups of unsavory looking teens hanging around outside but I've never actually seen any bad behavior on their part. Also, why would "thuggish" black teens from the South Side want to hang around a center for gays? Just waiting around to mug people? It doesn't really make sense to me.

ReplyDeleteI've read that comment/article and it really really tells it like it is and what it is is the Center is creating additional crime in Lake View by INVITING south and west side "teens" into the area who normally wouldn't be in that area. They than go back and "spread" the word! The gay black people on the south side have their OWN parade, they certainly should be able to set up a community center for gay "teens" on the south side as well. What, the north side is the ONLY place gays are?? That BYC on Broadway & Belmont is another problem as well!

Ok so after reading this article and the disclaimer posted before the post a comment section I think that this is a very racist post and the person who posted it condones it because he/she didnt flag or remove not one comment that reiterated the racist tone. ReplyDeleteNow with the southside gays should stay on the southside, now don't we have enough discrimination going on in this world? Yes the southside have a black pride but it's for everyone to attend. We don't discriminate and also the Latino/as have their pride also on the west side of town and all is welcome, but back to the crime we need tougher laws and making parents become more responsible for there children behavior.
We need to fine the landlords & store owners if they have criminal activities on their property & haven't report it. More then 3 fines or if someone get hurt and the person lives on your property the landlord/store owner should be included in the civil lawsuit. The welfare system needs to be tougher instead of some ppl staying home and collecting or receiving government funding they either need to be in some type of training class,school or work program & the handouts should last 2-5yrs depending on their circumstances. The parents must submit their children attendance from school to the government office in order to keep collecting welfare. They need to have drug drops & alcohol testing regularly or the ones who are collecting from the system. The only one who would be exempt would be the senior citizen. My thoughts..
