On Sunday, June 5, 2011, around 12 p.m., a mob of fifteen to twenty male black suspects boarded a No. 12 CTA bus, without paying, and terrorized the passengers, said authorities.
One of the suspects reportedly hit a University of Illinois at Chicago student over the head with a bottle and stole his iPod. Other passengers were also attacked, said several reports.
The frightening incident occurred on the 1300 block of West Roosevelt Road near the University Village, Little Italy neighborhoods.
Police arrested 18-year-old Akeem J. Manago, 17-year-old Christopher Jackson, a 15-year-old boy, and a 13-year-old boy.
According to FOX Chicago News, Manago, Jackson, and the 13-year-old are still in custody. The 15-year-old is resting comfortably at home, wearing a monitoring device.
Jackson and Manago will be back in court on June 14th. The 15 and 13-year-old will stand before a judge on July 1st.
Question : Is there some large fencing operation going on where these countless i-pod thieves sell their stolen goods? The number of thefts is in the thousands and makes me wonder if there isn't some racket dealing in buying those items, reprogramming them and reselling them.

ReplyDelete15-20 kids but only two arrested. come on now. you are using the same line over and over "15-20 kids". a 13 year old stealing is not worse than a 13 year old killing a boy because he wants to know how it feels.

But I suppose their mom will say, "They're good boys, never been in trouble before"....and there's this beachfront property in Arizona I'd like to sell you too:)
