Suspect follows man from North Side train station

This morning, a CTA passenger called police after he was followed from a Far North Side “L” station.

At approximately 2:44 a.m., a man said he was followed from the CTA Red Line Bryn Mawr station at 1119 West Bryn Mawr Avenue.

The complainant said he was pursued by a black man wearing a blue jacket and a brown hat.

A citizen who witnessed the incident, said the suspect "ran off" before police arrived.

Officers toured the area, but never found the alleged, would-be offender.

On October 31, 2010, a suspect attempted to rob a man at the Bryn Mawr station. Click here to read the details.

  1. If you're riding the CTA trains, have your finger on 911 on the train and at the stations and PAY attention to your surroundings...this person probably saved his life, his high tech stuff and prevented becoming a victim. WAKE UP PEOPLE! This isn't "LaLa land"

  2. Are CTA employees regularly stationed at the Bryn Mawr stop? I walked by there late one night a couple of years ago, and there were two employees standing around laughing and joking with one another.

  3. Don't know, I try to avoid the CTA trains and the stations at all costs.

  4. This is true and I agree with you both: BE AWARE and these CTA employees should do something besides sit in a gate and collect $20 an hour...considering their a@@es are always crying broke and raising the fares. HOWEVER, some things are just common doggone sense. Come on, people!! Walking home at 2:45 a.m. in CHICAGO? SERIOUSLY, now REALLY? If you ARE walking, evidently you live pretty close by. Pay the $5 bux for a cab, Sherlock.

Case in point, I was on the Red Line train one day and this guy just whipped out his laptop and started typing away. He REALLY was an accident waiting to happen, especially since I got on at Wilson, a "hot spot train stop." Now, if I noticed him immediately and I am not a criminal, what do you think Mookie and Ray-Ray are going to do when they see him if they are already snatching phones and knocking little old ladies down and killing them in the process? EXACTLY!! Mind you, I don't think ANYONE has the right to take ANYTHING from ANYBODY. BUT, Um, HELL-LOOO! That does not mean just because it is your right to do something that you SHOULD, i.e. break out tech gadgets on a public train in a high crime city.

So when you do, don't act all surprised and all OMG! when something happens to you JUST because you are too arrogant and too stupid to realize it can and it WILL.

  5. MissBee, your common sense points rock! :)

In the pre-early/mid 1960s, one could walk around any area (yes, the bad ones too), sleep in the park and play at the beach at any time of the day or night-even 3 AM.

  6. @Rudy, thank you. :) And, you are soooo right. I know I was a little bitty girl, but I just remember being so free.....*sigh*....isn't it just horrible and sad now? I love this doggone city and it is just going to the dogs. #pun intended. SHEESH! :(

  7. MissBee..You go girl:) I've been saying this stuff for months on here. Heads up people! Pay attention! Don't sit by the exits IF YOU MUST DISPLAY YOUR HIGH TECH STUFF! Actually, don't even display it. Get that "it'll never happen to me" mentality outta your head!
