Man hit by car in Uptown

A pedestrian was struck by a car in Chicago's North Side Uptown neighborhood.

At 8:38 a.m., a man was hit by a car at the intersection of North Sheridan Road and West Leland Avenue; which is approximately 4700 North Sheridan Road.

The injured man was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital. His condition was not disclosed.

Police described the victim as an Asian man in his early to mid-seventies.

  1. What the hell. Don't people pay attention when they're driving? Don't they know what speed limits are on neighborhood streets? We have become a society of "brain freezes".

  2. Towanda, I feel sorry for the elderly and anyone with limited mobility. A lot of drivers couldn't care less about running someone over, while talking on their cell phones and sipping on Starbucks.

  3. UPDATE: The man is in good condition. He has bruising on the side of his face. So far, officials have not been able to identify him, because of a language barrier.

  4. That's good to hear. However, because the elderly have a hard time recovering from injuries, this poor man will suffer in pain for a long time and will probably have arthritis, all because someone was not paying attention.
