Weekend bar report: Did your favorite nightspot make the list?

While you were probably sleeping, our brave men and women in blue were called to the following Chicago bars...

1:23 a.m. -- A couple at the South Way Lounge, 952 East 79th Street, were reportedly engaged in a fight.

1:24 a.m. -- A female customer at the Sound Bar, 226 West Ontario Street, refused to leave the premises.

1:58 a.m. -- A fight was reported at the Matilda bar, 3101 North Sheffield Avenue. Allegedly, someone was injured and someone left the scene in a taxicab.

2:14 a.m. -- A woman hanging out in the DJ booth was accidentally struck in the nose at a bar on 1600 block of West Division Street. Police did not give an exact address, or the name of the bar.

2:44 a.m. -- Someone reported a huge fight at Monsen's Tally-Ho Pub, 1951 West Howard Street.

2:52 a.m. -- A bar patron at Gallaghers, 1770 West Greenleaf Avenue, purportedly got into a verbal altercation with another customer at the bar.

3:19 a.m. -- Police were called to the Berlin Tavern at 954 West Belmont Avenue, after a customer allegedly threatened to shoot the place up. The 911 caller described the offender as a white man with a beard and a knife. At 3:23 a.m., an officer at the scene coded the incident as a 19-Paul (other miscellaneous incident/other police service). Additionally responding officers were told to disregard the 911 call.

3:22 a.m. -- Four or five men who were kicked out of the Transit Nightclub at 1431 West Lake Street, were allegedly fighting in front of the bar.

4:30 a.m. -- Someone contacted police after a large of group of people began fighting on the corner of West Armitage and North Ridgeway Avenues. The 911 caller said the group had just left a nearby bar. According to an Internet search, the closest bars to that intersection are Las Vegas Nite Club at 3702 West Armitage Avenue, the Brown Sack at 3706 West Armitage Avenue, and Wee Gee's Lounge at 3659 West Armitage Avenue.

4:56 a.m. -- Two men fighting at Christina's Place, 3759 North Kedzie Avenue.

NOTE: I received the following email regarding the 4:30 a.m. police call at West Armitage and North Ridgeway.

To whom it may concern,

In regards to your posting, referencing Weegee's Lounge in relation to a police event. We at Weegee's Lounge take security within our establishment and in our community very serious. Our location is actually two blocks from the stated address and we were closed at the time of the incident, as we are a 2am Tavern License.

Closer to the event location, the Las Vegas Nightclub at 3702 W. Armitage is a 4am Late Night License and at 3758 W. Armitage is the El Capitan Lounge.

As the CAPS Beat facitator for beat 2525, I am currently unaware of the incident and will make inquiries. We would sincerely appreciated a retraction to your reference. Thank you.

  3. Nope. All was quiet in Boystown. However, Lucky Horseshoe was mentioned over the police radio, but I didn't get any of the details.
