Man beaten with a stick in Rogers Park

At approximately 8:30 p.m., a man was reportedly assaulted and seriously injured on a Far North Side street.

The incident occurred near the intersection of Sheridan Road and Jonquil Terrace - which is approximately 7700 North Sheridan Road.

The victim, described as a Hispanic man, was hit in the head with a cane or a stick. Police dispatch reports indicate the victim was lying in the street bleeding from the head.

The offender, an African-American man, fled the scene, entering a nearby apartment building.

No further details are available.
