Around 5:30 p.m., police were called to a fourth floor apartment at 5841 North Winthrop Avenue, after receiving reports that someone had been shot.
When officers arrived at the scene, they discovered two people had been stabbed to death in the North Side Edgewater apartment, and a third stabbing victim was left in critical condition.
The surviving victim was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.
The suspects allegedly involved in the murders, fled the scene in a silver or black Ford F-10 pick up truck.
When a Chicago police officer tried to stop the truck at Thorndale and Broadway, right across the street from Moody's Pub (5910 North Broadway), one of the offenders opened fire, shooting the officer in the leg.
The officer was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois. Doctors removed the bullet and the officer is good condition.
After crashing at Devon and Greenview, the offending vehicle came to a stop, and one of the occupants in the truck was shot by police.
The injured offender was also taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, where he later died.
At approximately 8:40 p.m., police interviewed the owner of the building were the murders occurred.
How's that "diversity" thang going on up there in Edgewater?

I almost rented this nice place from this "hipster chic" in the 5600 block but after the second showing I realized sumthin', sumthin' just ain't right.
Really a shame.....near the water and all......ruined in my humble opinion.

ReplyDeleteThis building is one that the cops KNOW gang members/drug dealers live in. I am sick to tears of the police not shutting these ghetto thugs operations down because they're waiting to catch the big fish. In the meantime, innocent people are placed in danger all the time. They KNOW about the "Thorndale boys" so what the hell are they waiting for? Oh wait..the "big one". Bullshit! Take them out! Shut it down! I also want to thank the Mayor of Chicago, loser "Shriller" and anyone else who THOUGHT spreading out the low income/sec8/projects throughout the cities neighborhoods was a good idea, while they all walk around with bodyguards! These ghetto thugs need to be placed back where they came from before ALL the neighborhoods become trash! I am so PISSED off about this! We need to start a protest against the gang violence ALL over this city like they did are doing all over the world. These parasites are destroying this city and we need to scream loud and clear!

ReplyDeleteAs for "Townada", Helen Shiller isn't alderman of Edgewater; that would be Mary Ann Smith. And it was you and 'anonymous's' fearless leader Daley that tore down the projects and moved the dregs uptown. But I bet you didn't consider that when you both voted for him over and over again.
So I have lived in this neighborhood for two years literal less than a block from where this happened, and just signed up for a third...and like i told my friends looking for a place near me. i have never been affected by street violence. becuase I am not a part of that life.
ReplyDeleteClearly this incident...the only one I am aware of in over a year was drug and gang related. if you aren't a part of that scene you have nothing to fear.
I frankly believe you have a better chance of being run over by a white person in their car on their cell phone ignoring traffic laws in this neigborhood than a gang member related attack.
Who cares if there bad people here. I saw more violence by affluent white drunks in the time I lived in lincoln park than I have ever witnessed here. People can be mean cruel and unforgiving anywhere.
You can't let one incident like this get in the way way of this amazingly awesome convienint and cheap neigborhood. Everything you could possibly want is with in three blocks walking distance and a gorgeous beach is a block away.

Hey Joshua where were you last summer when the gangs decided to drive up and down Winthrop and Glenlake spraying gunfire everywhere at 4 PM on a weekday afternoon? Oh I guess: "if you aren't a part of that scene you have nothing to fear." Wise up fool or you'll be in a body bag one day.

ReplyDeleteI am not a part of that "scene" either BUT I sure as hell am NOT going to be in an area that the "Thorndale Boys" are that's for damn sure. I do NOT intend to become an innocent bystander victim, and while I DO NOT let these ghetto thugs keep me from enjoying my community, I do know the areas to avoid. Wake up, it's nice to have a vision through rose colored glasses but the ghetto thugs ARE EVERYWHERE and care not who is around when they start shooting at each other.
Joshua, get a clue. If you live around there, you are part of it. Maybe not by choice, but you still are/or could be effected.

ReplyDeleteWhat does it matter? These "boys" maybe aren't as violent BUT they are gang bangers/drug dealers/parasites and supply that area. Maybe the 2 victims were members, only the CPD knows that for sure. Death comes in many ways, a slow death from doing drugs or getting your throat slit from a drug deal gone bad. They're ALL parasites!
Joshua, That is amazing that someone as naive and smiley happy "Al Qaeda just needed a hug" like you appear to be, can be living in Edgewater, and not have been robbed yet. If I was looking for a victim, I'd spot you from 500 m away. And, the fact you read this blog and still feel so in control of your danger zones is remarkable. Do you think those people getting robbed left and right at 7-11's and dry cleaners were engaging in drug deals at the time? A good mugging can wisen you up some so that when/if you get on a jury, you have a little grit under your nails, or a crooked nose from your beating. Idiot.

Call all the criminal element roaming our neighborhoods BUT not the innocent residents or commenters on this site. We are not your enemy.
