Firefighter Attacked on Chicago's South Side

A fireman responding to a car accident in the area of 7900 South Ashland Avenue was attacked, said police.

Around 9 p.m., the fireman was assisting several injured citizens when a mob showed up and battered the emergency responder, said officials.

Authorities did not disclose the nature or severity of the firefighter's alleged injuries.

A least one person was arrested.

According to police dispatch reports, an arrest was made at 7916 South Justine Street.

However, it's unclear if that arrest is related to the assault on the firefighter at 7900 South Ashland Avenue.

  3. Did it every occur to you people the fireman said or done something to make them act that way? Some firefighters have really nasty attitudes!

  4. Most likely, that mob was responsible for the injured citizens too. The mob had nasty attitudes, not the fireman.

  5. In the 70s and 80s I used hear a lot of stories about people attacking firefighters and paramedics in the projects.

To this day, I don't understand what makes people like that tick. Very sad.

  6. Police getting shot, firemen getting attacked, UPS drivers getting robbed and shot...pretty soon there won't be any services there or they'll take their sweet time. Their jobs are dangerous enough without having to deal with the mob & thug mentality. I hardly think the firemen said or did something, what would be the point of that when they're there to FIGHT a FIRE??
