VIDEO: Wrigleyville street fight, brawl outside John Barelycorn

After being kicked in the back and punched in the face, a man was left spitting up blood outside a popular North Side, Wrigleyville neighborhood bar.

In a YouTube video, uploaded on May 28, 2012, two men were filmed in a violent confrontation outside John Barelycorn at 3524 North Clark Street, near Clark and Eddy.

One of the men involved in the ruckus lost one of his shoes during the shuffle.

When the so-called loser started spitting up blood, someone in the background yelled, "Spit that blood out, you pussy!"

On Yelp.com, John Barelycorn received a whopping 255 reviews, but a dismal rating of two stars.

Most of the complainants were aimed at the bar's staff.

However, some critics took shots at the business' patrons.

"I want to burn this place to the ground.

This is the quintessential example of what ruined Wrigleyville.

Expensive light beer, Faux classy clientelle (sp), Bachelorette Party headquarters, fights, fist pumping, Ed Hardy.

Everybody who frequents this hell hole likes Nickleback and New York style pizz," said Yelp.com user Conor O., on May 19, 2011.

DISCLAIMER: Chicago News Report makes no claim that the people involved in this fight were patrons at John Barelycorn. They could have come from any of the local bars in Wrigleyville. So, save your emails!

  1. The guy in the shorts let the other guy off easy. Once he had him in the full mount it could of gotten ugly, but he just got up and walked away. That is the difference between a civilized human being and a SAVAGE...

  3. That was a fight? Just looked liked somemthing kinda homoerotic to me. The guy in the shorts is definitely a bottom the way he sat on his crotch like that.

And they all sound like a bunch of twits in the background. The "boys" on Halsted St. are tougher.

  4. 1. When are these idiots with smartphones going to learn to hold the phone sideways when recording video?
    2. They may not have been John Barleycorn patrons, but Chicago liquor licensing laws require any bar that has a fight going on either just outside its premises or within a specific distance of the property if they're open to call the police & try to stop the fight.
Failure to call the cops is grounds for license suspension or revocation!
Considering how many bars are on that block, more than one bar put its license in jeopardy that night.

  7. ^The "guys" pushing 50 living directly along the entire lakefront area here, with the Peter Pan Syndrome, are no different.

Frankly, the "suburban White trash" I see visiting the general area here, above the age of 30, should be applauded for their courtesy, respect and couth (especially when walking down the sidewalk or riding the bus). It's highly noticed.

  8. It's funny when the blacks are on here fighting you see all this racial stuff directed towards the blacks, but when it's whites you don't get any, guess what I'm Jewish so you both are inferior. Trailer Parks vs Projects.
