Armed robbery at North Side CTA bus stop

A victim was robbed at gunpoint at a North Side CTA bus stop, said police.

Around 12:44 a.m., a man was robbed near the intersection of 2400 West Irving Park Road and 4000 North Western Avenue, in the city’s North Center neighborhood, said police.

The victim was sitting at a bus stop when one offender sat next to him and a second suspect, who was armed with a handgun, approached the victim from behind, said authorities.

The robbers, who were described as two male blacks, stole the victim’s cell phone and a wallet containing credit cards and several hundred dollars, said police.

Investigators said the gunman is approximately 5’7” and 180 pounds with braided hair. He was last seen wearing a shirt with gold letters on it.

The second offender is said to be 5’10” and 170 pounds. He was wearing a dark-colored sweatshirt.

After the robbery, the thieves fled the scene on foot and were last seen running behind the CVS Pharmacy at 3944 North Western Avenue, said police.

Citing police communications, several armed robberies were reported in the area... including a robbery at Montrose and Magnolia.

During the previous robberies, the victims saw the offenders flee the scene in a white SUV.

Based on the description of the perpetrators, police believe the incidents are related.

  1. Damn that area around Irving Park brown line is one of my favorite areas of this city (mostly because there are less "youths" around there).

I guess they found out people were feeling safe and enjoying themselves around there, so its time to do some Apple-Picking...
