If you weren't aware of the Monday, May 28, 2012, Memorial Day shooting in Chicago's Hyde Park neighborhood, where a man was apparently shot in the head, you aren't alone.
Hyde Park has a dirty little secret: An increasing crime rate that's being spiked by ghetto, super-rats who are creating a constant nuisance along the community's lakefront; mainly between the 5300 and 5600 block of S. South Shore Drive.
Most liberal Hyde Park residents, black and white alike, are too polite to say it, but some of the "minorities" who flood the area from other parts of the city, are about as welcome as hemorrhoids on a long distance truck driver.
This past Memorial Day, prior to the shooting, residents say they called police numerous times to report an estimated 70 people hanging out in a parking lot in front of the Flamingo at 5500 S. South Shore Drive.
One man who lives at the Hyde Park apartment building said the shooting didn't have to happen.
"I have lived in Hyde Park for over 20 years now. I live at the Flamingo. I saw everything that happened. I don't believe that shooting needed to happen," said Shane Desautels, during an emergency town hall meeting. "People in my building called 911 before that time. They called because there was noise... there was public drinking... there were large crowds."
Although the parking lot where the shooting occurred belongs to the Chicago Park District and supposedly closes at 11 p.m. - residents say the parking lot never closes and people are in the lot at all hours of the night.
5th Ward Alderman, Leslie Hairston, blamed the spike in violent, unwanted visitors on the "boat owners" at 31st Street Beach; which sounds like code for white people.
"...since they built the harbor, people that used to be able to go to 31st Street Beach, and enjoy the beach, have been ousted by the boat owners," said Hairston.
During the May 29, 2012, community meeting, which was videotaped and uploaded to YouTube, several concerned citizens accused the Chicago Police Department of failing to do their job.
"There's no leadership. The police aren't getting out of their cars. They're not doing their job," said a clearly frustrated attendee.
Some of the people who criticized the CPD identified themselves as retired police officers.
One angry resident identified himself as a circuit court judge.
The police cant just get out of their cars and shoo the troublemakers away, because it is now illegal to "profile" those people. Why risk a career ending lawsuit to help people that don't support you to begin with?
ReplyDelete^ A native Chicagoan recently told me at as well. This "dilemma" and your lack of loitering laws will continue the downward spiral.
ReplyDeleteSeriously, I would never feel comfortable just standing in one place in public for hours without thinking I would at least be questioned by someone.....the police, a business owner, a homeowner. It's wierd. But so is Halsted St.
They are all crying for more police but wait till the police stop one of them for a violation....they will be the 1st ones to berate the police. The police are "not doing their jobs" because the police that they hired are the police the residents wanted. The touchy feely police. A certain number of them have to be this or that. We need a police force that can do its job and isn't sued for everything all the time. Prime example are the convicted killers being let out after 20 years because someone recanted. Well the police only went with what the witness told them....so how is it that the police are getting sued. The witness should get charged with perjury and sued by the "victim".
ReplyDeleteThe sheep hate the wolf and also their protector...the sheepdog.
The alderman is a pass the buck sister. Hyde Park is an interesting but very dangerous place to live. Quit making excuses libtards and wake up...It took me being mugged several times..my apartment broken into & at last my friends murder to convince me to get the hell out of Hyde Park!
ReplyDeleteTwenty years ago the cops refused to get out of their cars.
These "diverse" hippy wannabe's should fight for a bottle return law because all I saw was broken glass smashed everywhere there this past Summer. It wasn't there in 1992. Progressive?
ReplyDeleteBlacks deserve no civil rights or citizenship due to their Ongoing tribal warfare. They will never adapt to society and must stop being financed by tax dollars.
ReplyDeleteAre the police writing citations and fines?
ReplyDeleteDoesn't the city need money?
Im am soooooo happy this is happenning you hyde parker u think u dont have to see crime or be effcted by it hyde park is still chicago at least u have 2 police departments cpd and the university I Am in law enforcement and have had me house and car window shot out! Oh thats not your promblem. You live in a neighbor where u send your kids to private schools while the poor kids have try to get a education on 20 year text books.
ReplyDeleteTo the above poster... if you are in law enforcement, I am concerned that CPD would hire such unintelligent individuals.
ReplyDelete"I'm am" = I am.
"had me house" = had my house
"promblem" = problem
"in a neighbor" = in a neighborhood
"20 year textbooks" = 20 year old textbooks
Also, in addition to your poor spelling, you used absolutely no punctuation. I'm sorry, but I have a hard time believing your story. You may be bitter because you dislike Hyde Park, but your intelligence level tells me that you are probably not a law enforcement official.
It's an blog comment, not a thesis. The poster is right. Hyde Park is still Chicago. The parks are public property per Burnham. I kinda hope one of those"ghetto rats" punches you in the face.
