When I was in high school, more than two decades ago, wearing multiple buttons was a huge fashion trend.
I used to pin them everywhere: on my denim jackets, my Eddie Bauer book bags, and on the front of my Izod polo-shirts, to name a few places.
In the 80s, I owned about a hundred buttons. My favorite was a black and white checkered button with the words "Rude Boy" written on it.
It was the same button that my then-musical idol, Prince, wore on his Controversy album cover.
When I serendipitously stumbled upon a video for the Busy Beaver Button Company at 3279 W. Armitage Avenue, I was instantly transported back in time, to my glorious high school days.
Busy Beaver has been in Chicago's Logan Square neighborhood since 1998.
