Fire on Sheridan Road

Around 10 p.m., a fire was reported on Chicago’s North Side.

Police dispatch reports indicate the fire was in the vicinity of 5200 North Sheridan Road in Edgewater, near the intersection of Sheridan and Foster.

At least one warming-bus was brought to the scene to temporarily shelter tenants who were forced out of their homes by the fire.

No injuries were reported and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

By 11:20 p.m., most of the fire trucks and equipment had left the scene. Traffic near Sheridan and Berwyn, which was temporarily blocked by police, slowly returned to normal.

However, some parts of Sheridan Road remained closed.

  1. Check it everyone -- I live in the building directly adjacent to the building that caught fire, to the north. Shot this video from our rooftop -- http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PzdKfkOwxB4
