Fire in Chicago's Gage Park Neighborhood

An estimated ten people were forced out of their homes after smoke swept through a south side Chicago neighborhood building.

A fire erupted around 2 a.m. at a multi-unit apartment complex near the 5900 block of South Francisco Avenue in Gage Park.

According to police and firefighters on the scene, one tenant was taken to Holy Cross Hospital for smoke inhalation.

Nearly a dozen people, including small children, were displaced by the fire.

The cause of the blaze is under investigation.
