Police and emergency crews are doing their best to respond to a car accident at 3900 South Lake Shore Drive.
The incident was brought to my attention at 7 p.m.
Several injured motorists, including a pregnant woman, have been left stranded on South Lake Shore Drive for hours, said one source.
Preliminary reports suggest the accident occurred in the northbound lanes.
At 7:50 p.m., because of the weather conditions, emergency workers were still trying to reach the injured citizens.
A Volvo and a gray Camry are said to be involved in the crash.
If and when, I get more information, this article will be updated accordingly.
UPDATE: 8:04 p.m., police and emergency crews are still unable to reach the injured citizens. An abandoned vehicle is blocking their path. The snowplows are unable to get through.

This is terrible. This is looking more & more like '67 all over again...maybe even worse. I hope they have gotten to those people.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, it's not looking too good out there. There are people trapped in the snow, all over the city. Even the cops.
ReplyDeleteApparently, the fire department has access to snowmobiles. At one point police were asking if they could them, but I don't think they are going be given access to them.
It is most interesting that main stream media ie channels 2, 5, 7; Suntimes nor the Tribune picked this up. All you hear about is the North end of LSD.

ReplyDeleteAnonymous, they completely glossed over the fact that people were still stranded between 3900 and 4700 South Lake Shore Drive.
Those people were stuck there all night. It was almost as if they didn't exist.
Possibly, the Hyde Park Herald and/or the Lakefront Outlook might have covered the stranded people. I hope they are rescued and well.
ReplyDeleteRudy, neither the Hyde Park Herold, nor the Lakefront Outlook, covered this story.
ReplyDeleteI went through every page of their online publication and there wasn't a single line dedicated to the people stranded between 3900 and 4700 South Lake Shore Drive.
In fact, there was no mention of the blizzard at all.
Timothy,
ReplyDeleteI noticed that earlier. :(
Maybe, next week's issues will cover the blizzard. Somehow, I doubt it.
Maybe they were busy digging their cars and streets out from under the snow.
