Brawl at NW Side IHOP: Woman Spits on Off-duty Cop

Around 5:15 a.m., a fight was reported at a northwest side restaurant.

Several women were engaged in a physical confrontation at the Chicago, Avondale neighborhood International House of Pancakes at 2818 West Diversey Avenue; near the intersection of Diversey and Mozart Street. 

According to police dispatch reports, one of the women spat on an off-duty Chicago police officer who was working as a security guard. The woman reportedly spat in the off-duty cop’s face.

At 5:42 a.m., updated information indicated the female offender was placed in handcuffs.

Despite her restraints, at 5:49 a.m., police dispatch announced the woman was still attacking the off-duty police officer and destroying the restaurant's property.

Moments later, the situation was brought under control and the woman was taken into custody.

The woman was charged with aggravated battery against a police officer and criminal damage to property.

Several glass doors were broken at IHOP.

  3. Holy shit, this is the IHOP that a bleeding woman walked into the week before. Avondale was quieting down, but that must have been a temporary lull.
