Man Robbed at Gunpoint in Lakeview on Racine Ave.

At 2:48 a.m. police were searching Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood for a pair of armed robbers.

The robbery occurred on the 3200 block of North Racine Avenue, near the intersection of  Racine and West School Street.

The victim was accosted by a thin African-American man and heavy, or "fat" African-American woman. The male suspect was wearing a knee-length coat and the female suspect was wearing a waist-length jacket. Both perpetrators were wearing dark-colored or black clothing.

Police said the not-so-dynamic duo was armed with a revolver. However, authorities did not disclose what was stolen.

After the robbery, the offenders fled southbound on North Racine Avenue.

Around 2:50 a.m., police stopped a woman near the intersection of Belmont and Sheffield, and brought the victim to the location to make an identification. The police had the wrong woman.

  1. It's a shame that we can't be out at certain hours of the night without worrying about getting attacked by these bottom feeders. Hell, it's a shame we can't walk around this city at ANY hour without worrying about that.

  2. towanda, I moved to Uptown in 1993. Even though a lot of people told me it was a bad neighborhood, Uptown was a relatively safe place to live back then. Flash-forward to 2000 and beyond - all that changed. All of a sudden, there were gobs of thugs and thugettes (as my mom would say) cluttering the streets.

I actually lived in Lincoln Park for a couple of years. My mom has a home in that neighborhood. I loved it, but I missed Uptown and moved back.

Well, needless to say, I no longer live in Uptown.

  3. From the mid-1960s onwards, the "Don't Walk Around The City and Sleep In Parks & Beaches" rule has been in effect. Some Beach Yuppies learned that lesson in 2008 or 2009.
