On December 21, 2010, around 6 p.m., a woman was sexually assaulted and beaten on the 1300 block of West Barry Avenue in Chicago's Lakeview neighborhood. Police say the crime occurred while the victim was walking home from a nearby CTA train station.
According to a news alert, the woman was approached from behind by an African-American man or teenager, who demanded money. Then, the offender implied he had a gun - forced the woman into an alley - and sexually assaulted her.
The suspect is described as 17 to 24-years-old, 5'4" to 5'8", with a slim build and a light brown complexion. He was last seen wearing a dark jacket and dark pants.

December 11, 2010, a thief tried to snatch a woman's purse near the intersection of North Broadway and West Melrose Street, in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.
Don't forget all of the home invasions-at least two of which happened on Barry. Are developers suppressing crime reports?
ReplyDeleteYou're right. I believe there were several home invasion on that block. The way I see it,the news is a business. And it is controlled by the highest bidder. Why do think every media station reports the same story; usually, word for word?

ReplyDeleteThere has been an up swing in crime in this area, far more than when I used to live there. This is part of the reason, "African-American man or teenager". When I'm told by a panhandler who comes to the north side from the far south side that he comes way up here because "this is where the money is, the brothers aren't going to help me out" I know why crime is on the up swing in the north side neighborhoods. These ghetto thugs have robbed, beaten and killed their way through the south side so time to move north. Now we all know WHY they kept the low income housing where it USED to be. There is no such thing as "integrating" low income housing. It simply spreads the crime throughout the city. Do whites and hispanics commit crime? Absolutely! BUT the greatest percentage of crime committed in this city is by GHETTO THUGS! PROVE ME WRONG!
