The robbery occurred around 6:04 p.m., near the intersection of North Michigan Avenue and East Chicago Avenue. According to police, a man stole the woman’s iPhone.
Authorities described the thief as an African-American man wearing a black hooded leather jacket with white letters on the back. The suspect was also wearing a white sweatshirt underneath his coat.
After the robbery, the offender fled westbound on Chicago Avenue. Police assumed the suspect was headed to the Chicago Red Line “L” station at 800 North State Street.
One officer said he checked the subway’s northbound platform, but there was no sign of anyone matching the perpetrator’s description.
At 6:34 p.m., police detained a subject matching the offender’s description. The man was also carrying two cell phones -- one was an iPhone.

At 6:14 p.m., a shoplifter was detained at Nordstrom, 55 East Grand Avenue.
Security at Forever 21, 835 North Michigan Avenue, caught their second shoplifter of day at 6:43 p.m. The offender was being held on the 5th floor.
Two adult male shoplifters were caught taking advantage of a five-finger-discount at Old Navy, 35 North State Street. Police were called at 6:45 p.m.
Around 7 p.m., citizens reported an aggressive panhandler threatening to rob people walking by a downtown 7-Eleven at 195 North Dearborn Street. The offender, described an African-American man wearing sunglasses, a dark hoodie, and jeans - was heard yelling, "Give me a reason to rob someone!"
What cowards and scumbags these ghetto thugs are. Must make them feel like big men to rob an elderly person. So if they don't have guns to scare the shit out of people, they pick on the more vulnerable who can't really fight back. These sure are some children to be proud of...NOT!
