While the nation is focused on Rahm Emanuel’s listening tour, another candidate is lending her ear to Chicagoans - Carol Moseley-Braun.
The former Senator and ex-ambassador of New Zealand, hasn’t made an official announcement, but her interest in Mayor Daley’s soon-to-be old gig is clearly evident.
But will her past come back to bite her future?
In 1992, Moseley-Braun was accused of Medicaid fraud after she and her siblings split a $28,750 inheritance left to Moseley-Braun's deceased mother. One problem... Moseley-Bruan's mother was a Medicaid patient and any money left in her estate, should have been used to cover outstanding medical bills.
When this issue was brought to Braun's "attention", she reimbursed the state $15,239.00.
And what about the alleged IRS investigation that mysteriously faded to black?
Reportedly, in 1995, the IRS was investigating Moseley-Braun and her campaign manager/slash boyfriend, Kgosie Matthews, for allegedly using $280,000 in political donations for trips, jeeps, jewelry, and boom-boxes. But the investigation was suspiciously dropped.
All of these shadowy circumstances could effectively besmirch Moseley-Braun's credibility. Which won't sit well with Chicagoans who are fed up with Chi-town's pungent political scene.
