According to the Chicago Tribune, 29-year-old Eugene Rhodes of the 200 block of Berkley Drive, was jailed after a city worker, responsible for plowing the streets, dumped snow in his driveway.
In response to the driver's actions, Rhodes allegedly cursed the driver and threw snow in the street.
When officers arrived, the seemingly minor incident quickly went from bad to worse.
Ultimately, Rhodes was arrested and charged with aggravated battery against a peace officer, disorderly conduct, resisting arrest and obstructing identification.
Adding insult to injury, Rhodes was also ticketed for dumping snow on a roadway.
If you're wondering why Chicago News Report is on the so-called offender's side... please, allow us to explain.
According to the Chicago Tribune's account of the events leading up to Rhodes' arrest, the officers had no cause to arrest the suspect.
"Rhodes, who Rompa said was 'still irate,' walked back toward his garage when police asked him for identification. When told he was under arrest, he started to run into his garage," said the Tribune.
Based on this information, the police asked for ID... Rhodes walked toward his garage... and before Rhodes gave any indication he was going to attempt to evade the police, the cops announced that Rhodes was under arrest.
But why was Rhodes taken into custody?
Again, according to the Tribune, the only thing the responding officers actually saw Rhodes do, was dump snow in the streets; which at best, merits a ticket.
Furthermore, Rhodes walking toward his garage isn't cause to arrest. For all we know, Rhodes was complying with the officers' request for identification and was going to get his ID.
Because of our suspicions the incident may be race-related, CRN did some digging.
Citing 2008 online complaints, the Bolingbrook Police Department has been unofficially accused of racial profiling and filing false charges against black residents.
"I heard a couple of stories about the bolingbrook police making fun of a couple of black women's hair and color and nails why they were in jail and I believe it because one time I was racially profiled by the bolingbrook police dept.," said one online critic. "Bolingbrook has all of these new young WHITE cops that only mess with black people."
According to the critic and longtime resident of more than 23 years, the racial profiling started when the Bolingbrook Police Department hired a group of "trailer park white boys" back in 2003.
In January, a Bolingbrook cop was filmed allegedly playing video poker while driving in a snowstorm. The officer is currently under investigation.

ReplyDeleteThe Bolingbrook Illinois police are either committing felonies or they're trying to charge you with one. Always contact a lawyer when you're approached. Sue them if you can. This will take money out of their retirement plan.
