This Fourth of July, a growing mob of protesters kept the Chicago Police Department on their toes, as the group headed towards Mayor Rahm Emanuel's Ravenswood home.
The July 4th Block Party to Fight Austerity at Rahm's House kicked off around 12 p.m. at Chase Park, near Leland and Ashland.
The group's final destination was Mayor Rahm Emanuel's house, 4228 North Hermitage.
According to a 12:44 p.m. police dispatch report, an estimated 70 people joined the march.
"It's about seventy people... a few anarchists in the mix... some of them have their lawyers," said a responding officer.
At approximately 1:06 p.m., officers working the area were told their lunches were suspended and all surrounding police districts were put on standby.
Shortly after the announcement, Chicago News Report received word that a mob of concerned citizens had taken over the intersections of Cullom and Paulina, and Cullom and Hermitage.
If more details become available, this article will be updated accordingly.
UPDATE: The crowd left the mayor's house around 1:53 p.m.
At approximately 2:07 p.m., officers were called to the corner of Ashland and Montrose, because the crowd had "taken over the street."
