Photo: Suspect who allegedly shot, killed mom and son, found with multiple gunshot wounds

Less than 24 hours after 31-year-old Chavonne Brown and her 5-year-old son, Sterling Sims, were found shot to death on the 5300 block of South Winchester Avenue, an 18-year-old murder suspect was gunned down on Chicago's West Side.

According to various news reports, on June 28, 2013, around 2:30 a.m., a gunman entered Brown's apartment and shot her and her 5-year-old son to death. Both victims were shot in the head.

Shortly after the homicide, an eyewitness identified the shooter.

Within in a matter of minutes, someone pulled the suspect's mugshot from the internet and the vigilante manhunt began.

At approximately 9:10 p.m., the suspected double-murderer was shot multiple times on the 2800 block of West Arthington Street in Chicago's West Side Lawdale neighborhood.

Authorities said the 18-year-old suspect was shot in the buttocks, leg, neck, and groin.

At the time of this report, the suspect was still in an apparent coma.

While the motive for the double-homicide is unclear, Chicago News Report unearthed information suggesting the gunman entered the home looking for money.

"If he came there looking for money, she would have given him everything she had, in exchange for their lives," said one source.

CNR has also heard rumors that Chavonne Brown, or someone very close to her, was involved in illegal drug trade.

Chicago News Report found at least one Facebook posting where Brown hinted that she and her "hubby" had a lot of money.

UPDATE: CNR has learned the little boy was shot in the face. We are also hearing the gunman knew his victims and waited for them to return home, before ambushing them.
