Man injured in Lincoln Square baseball bat attack

A male victim was injured in a vicious baseball bat attack in Chicago’s North Side Lincoln Square neighborhood, said police.

The brutal assault occurred around 10:06 p.m. near the intersection of North Western and West Winnemac Avenues.

An initial 911 call indicated six males, armed with bats, attacked a lone victim on the street.

Police identified the victim as a white male in his 40s, who sustained a laceration to the face.

Citing police dispatch reports, the attackers were described as three Hispanic males and one black male.

One eyewitness account indicated the assailants fled the scene in a gold-colored minivan.

Other bystanders told police the thugs sped away in a black Jeep Cherokee.

According to an unconfirmed source, the victim was transported to Swedish Convenant Hospital in unspecified condition.
