During an alleged altercation on Chicago's South Side, a large crowd of young African Americans clogged the street -- bringing traffic to a complete standstill.
The illegal roadblock was filmed on the 6200 block of South Rhodes Avenue and posted on Chicago's Woodlawn Community Facebook page on August 30, 2012.
One Facebook user who commented on the video said she was surprised the people moved out of the way.
Sadly, anyone who has ever driven through certain South Side neighborhoods on a warm day, knows this is a common occurrence.

Im glad to see freedom of speech is back.......well only if it is approved by liberals
ReplyDeleteGlad to see that CNR is back up and running reporting on the real truth of the city. Sometimes the truth hurts, which is probably why they were shut down since the middle of August.
ReplyDeleteThe unvarnished and uncomfortable truth must really be striking a nerve somewhere.
ReplyDeleteKeep telling it, posting it, and videotaping it like it is, CNR.
I haven't spent $ at the local businesses at night other than for bare necessities because I have no idea what's going on in the neighborhood since mid-August. Even the Fibune has been a little too quiet. No news is NOT good news, especially in this town.
ReplyDeleteBeing truthful about crime helps the area and local businesses whether they know it or not. I'll read the reports and come to my OWN conclusion whether my safety could be threatened or not. Some reported incidences aren't a safety concern - to me anyway.
Chicago media has been awfully quiet except for the reports of out-of-control South & West side violence now asking for Federal assistance (absolutely no way they can hide that). However in my "neighborhood" there are police EVERYWHERE at strange random times - on bikes, on foot, squad cars parked every 3rd block and crawling up/down the streets. Like "sweeps". This leads me to believe 1 of 2 things since there's such silence. All is well and they're doing their job OR crime has spiraled out of control here as well. I'm sure it's the latter. Again, no news is NOT good news.
I agree with you! No news usually means something is up, and not in a good way. I have stopped going to the city altogether. I use to enjoy spending time walking around taking in everything this beautiful town has to offer. Now it's like a cesspool of garbage lurking on the streets waiting to cause havoc. It's bad enough that the mayor and his city officials gauge you in the pockets with parking, entertainment, etc, but then you have to worry about getting shot, mugged or raped. The city is nice, but not that nice to be taking a chance like that. CNR really has opened my eyes to what is really going on in the city. I accidentally came across this site this past June when I started looking up information on Lincoln Park as I was in the vicinity of LP and Lakeview and couldn't believe the type of people that were walking around. Those areas use to be relatively safe. Now I won't put a foot around there thanks to what my own eyes saw and CNR's reporting. Thanks for keeping us safe and up-to-date with reporting accurate news. Glad you're back up and running.
DeleteOMG, I am so glad to see you guys are back on the air! You guys serve a very worthwhile societal purpose of providing relevant news that ordinary citizens would not otherwise see. I am shocked that those who believe that big government is the solution to everything would use their influence to squelch the views of those who do not agree with them. Under the Rahmunists, we have become a city and a country in decline.
ReplyDeleteI guess they forgot that one of the central tennants of free speech is that ALL speech is to be given an equal presentation, and by competition within the marketplace for ideas that the worthy shall flourish and the charlatans will fail.
Thats what the roadways in Africa look like 24/7
ReplyDeleteClearly you have never been to Africa.

ReplyDeleteNot going anytime soon, hopefully never.
ReplyDeleteThat's scary!
ReplyDeleteGlad to see you guys are back. I look forward to on the ground reporting!

Welcome back. My OCD of looking to see if you were back was getting bad. Folks we are all in this mess of a city together. We have a right to be alarmed by the crime & corruption that goes on outside our door. We can no longer have the luxury of being naive, nor can we continue to pat ourselves on the back for being oh so progressive & tolerant. We should no longer be tolerant, nor make excuses for the crime that is tearing our city apart. We have every right to be angry & vent. If you don't like the truth please continue to subscribe to the liberal Stockholm Syndrome & go to the cover up press that chooses to coddle the disenfranchised & make them the victims or even heroes. Just what is it going to take to make us realize that we have accommodated a high crime adversary culture that is unraveling our city crime after crime?
ReplyDeleteThere is an awful lot of talking going on about Chicago's crime epidemic and frankly that is part of the problem facing these crime ridden areas. Everybody is TALKING. When we get tired of talking, or waiting for the problems to solve themselves, maybe we will see some boots, gym shoes, orthopedics, or high heels on the ground manually administering much needed rehabilitation.
