Woman’s clothing ripped during attempted North Side robbery

A woman’s clothing was torn in a violent struggle during an attempted robbery on the city’s Far North Side, said police.

The victim was attacked Wednesday, July 4, 2012, around 11:54 p.m., on the 2200 block of West Touhy Avenue, near Touhy and Oakley, in the Chicago’s West Ridge, West Rogers Park neighborhood, said authorities.

Citing preliminary police dispatch reports, a male Hispanic mugger tried to grab the woman’s property and he tore her pants during the struggle.

The would-be robber is in his 20s, 5’7” to 5’8”, and 180 to 190 pounds. He was last seen wearing a dark gray shirt with white stripes and short pants.

After the incident, the offender -- who was driving a white, Ford F-150 with a possible license plate of 69714 or 69314 -- followed the victim to her Rogers Park home, said police.

If you have any information about this crime, please contact the police, immediately.
