Possible drowning at Rogers Park beach


A man who was last seen swimming in Lake Michigan at a Far North Side Rogers Park neighborhood beach, has apparently disappeared.

The possible drowning was reported at Hartigan Park Beach, also known as Albion Beach, at 1050 West Pratt Boulevard, around 9:44 p.m.

According to officials, the man was last seen swimming in Lake Michigan about an hour before authorities were notified.

As of 9:56 p.m., the missing swimmer’s clothes were still on shore, but there was no indication the man ever made it out of the water.

Shortly after 10 p.m., police helicopters joined the search.

UPDATE: At 10:11 p.m., the Coast Guard were on the scene. Authorities said the man was last seen about 100 feet away from the shore.

UPDATE: The swimmer was pulled from the water at 10:24 p.m. His condition is unknown.

UPDATE: At 10:28 p.m., the Coast Guard announced that the swimmer is able to stand on his own two feet and appears to be in good condition.
