1 injured in brawl at Boystown bar

Citing police dispatch reports, at least one person was injured during a fight inside a gay bar in Boystown.

At 1:53 a.m., a 911 caller reported a skirmish at The Lucky Horseshoe Lounge at 3169 North Halsted Street, in Chicago's Lake View neighborhood.

At 1:55 a.m., a subsequent report indicated several offenders were fleeing the scene in a maroon-colored Chrysler.

About seven minutes later, authorities found a battery victim at the CTA bus turnaround at Halsted and Belmont.

Information regarding the victim's condition wasn't immediately available, but an ambulance was called to the scene.

  1. LOL. That's all I can say about that place.

I went in there - ONCE. I was sitting at the bar and this thing came up from behind and touched my thigh. It startled me. It was this midget cracked-out thing wearing a trench coat dragging on the ground with a jockstrap or something under it. It reminded me of a bad version of Prince's Dirty Mind album cover. I think I screamed. I refused his "advances" and he marched around the bar yelling "that guy was so rude - I WORK here!!". I yelled back, "what's your point?!". There was a black guy j/o'ing in the back near another "stripper" dance floor. Whole schlong right out. Also, I gave the bartender a $20 for a $6 drink and got a $5 bill back. Argument right out the gate. He had to "call the manager" and all that good stuff.

I fled and that midget thing was at the door with his leg up on the wall exposing that jockstrap. What a way to turn off possible customers right at the door.

This is Chicago. What a mess! OMG!

    1. If you dont like chgo, then move.
I imagine that person who approached a closet case like you regretted it as well.

    1. We dont shut down every bar that has an isolated incident. If we did, most licensed establishments would be shut down in short order.

This strip-bar is too expensive for most locals. It caters to many tourists and married straight men, in addition to gays.

The bar owner, Benjamin Allen, also owns the North End bar up at Halsted and Bradley Place.

  3. Bars have fights. Period. Goes with the territory.

What was the race of the offenders who fled in a Chrysler??????

  4. ^ All I can say is, I'm not a strip club person by any means. But don't you usually "summons" them over to you with a $ or two in your hands? I think it's Chicago style just to be that aggressive (which is not for your own good). And furthermore, where I'm from, the strippers at least didn't LOOK like they were high. Sometimes they even brought in a traveling troop now and then that actually gave you something to look at.

But thanks for the bar owner information. Who cares? Tell him to manage and control the place, at the very least.

    1. It was one altercation and we dont know what caused the fight from this report.

Stop automatically blaming the bar when the participants who FLED in the Chrysler may have instigated the trouble.

EVERY bar owner should manage and control his establishment.

  5. And if THAT place is "expensive", I would sure hate to see your dive strip clubs. Seriously. The "neighbors" of that place complain about what they see outside the back on other forums. I mean, I know you obvious bartenders/workers defending these places need your jobs but don't you have some sense of self-worth to maybe try something a lil' classier, maybe in another city? I think this is the only place you've ever been though, straight from Chattahootchy, Iowa.

  6. I feel really bad for you gay guys, having to put up with this crap just to get some sex/romance.

I guess I really don't understand, but just once, just once, take a chance on a woman. Maybe she can put on a strap on and peg you or whatever it's called.
I can understand bisexuality, women are too beautiful and sexy to ignore. I don't understand only being all about the pole, I just don't get it.

    1. How stupid are you?

First of all, many of the patrons are closeted married men and "straight" boys.

Gays dont go there for sex you idiot. Jeez what do you think it is?

Ever hear of gentlemens clubs and strip bars - theyre serving straight men by stripping females.

  9. To that paragon of heterosexual butchiness who posted at 5:34 a.m. I just want to know what you're doing reading stories (and commenting) about gay bars so early in the morning? And how do you know about strap-ons and getting pegged? Were you waiting for your wife to leave before logging on to Corbin Fisher? Or don't you know about that either? And you feel sorry for us? Trust me, you have our pity as well. Now go play with your kids before heading out to a truck stop across the Wisconsin border tonight.

  10. If you read closer I did refer to "understanding" bisexuality, so read what you will into that.
I was up at the crack of dawn getting some quality trolling in before my morning run, the early bird catches the worm, after all.

  11. The place just exudes "expensive" and class with that popcorn machine with it's remains all over the floor and people walking around with pieces of it stuck in their nose and on the side of their cheek.

C'mon gay guys in Chicago. Pick yourselves up by the bootstraps and have some self-respect.

If these are "rich/straight" guys coming in here they even know there's the internet now. Seriously.

The bartender trying to stiff the "straight/rich guy" that is actually gay and lives here? You people here need to broaden your horizons.

  12. On second thought though, where I'm from, it's common to have a cover charge. It weeds out the crap literally FALLING in from the alley and gives the establishment ability to provide real entertainment. Something for Chicago to think about.......

  13. @1:46pm - believe it or not some gay guys here in Chicago do have real (yes, REAL) jobs and have to get up before sunrise but do go out and TRY to be entertained now and then (but it's almost impossible here). "We" don't all work as a flight attendant, bartender, waiter or up and coming movie star. Yes, believe it or not.

A stripper in there thought I was a "doctor". Oh, I'm flattered. Try this in Tennessee or on your farm girls. Please.

If there was a "straight" man in there that night, he was trying to score drugs or a ride home. Those were old fat gay men dangling late 70's gold chains and reeking of Old Spice. Again, "expensive"?!!!!! Literally, I've heard/seen it all.

I read a review after that visit. It's nicknamed the Lucky Whoreshoe. A Chicago gem.

Just try, try something here with a cover charge, a dress code, "sorry, it's a private party tonight" kinda thing and see what kinda REAL money you might make so we don't have to mingle with your version of "diversity"/trash.

  14. @5:22: What you say makes sense. However, you must accept that this group of gays in Chicago are the worst of the worst. They want others to "think" that gays here are superior to hide their own inadequacies. Every day, I thank God for HIV and AIDS. It puts all these gays into check. They are living delusional, hate-filled lives. HIV brings them to a clear reality. They are lonely and will die pitiful lives. They are truly sad and hearbroken. Knowing this makes me happy.

    1. God doesn't exist. You just proved how uneducated you are. Keep praying to something science has proven false.

It actually sounds as if you yourself are a closeted homosexual. I'm gay, disease free, very happy, and SINGLE! Wanna meet?
