Rogers Park stabbing puts Evanston hospital on high alert, says cops

After an apparent gang-related stabbing in Chicago’s Rogers Park neighborhood, the staff at St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, were put on high alert.

Around 5:30 p.m., a member of the La Raza street gang was stabbed on the 1900 block of West Touhy Avenue, in Rogers Park, according to police dispatch reports.

Investigators said the offenders are believed to be Latin Kings from the area of Broadway and Winona, in Chicago’s Uptown neighborhood.

This evening, some time around 9:45 p.m., members of the La Raza street gang attempted to visit the victim at St. Francis, but were turned away by hospital security.

The gang members were last seen circling the hospital in a black Dodge Magnum, said police.

Sources say police are bracing for a retaliatory shooting in Uptown.
