The first reported criminal sexual assault occurred in Uptown, around 3:59 a.m.
According to police dispatch, a woman was allegedly raped on the 900 block of West Leland Avenue, near Leland and Broadway.
The alleged rapist was described as a black male riding a bike with a basket mounted on the handlebars, said police.
The suspect was last seen going eastbound on Leland.
At the time of this report, no further details were available regarding the alleged Uptown rapist.
About thirty minutes later, at approximately 4:22 a.m., a 911 caller reported a woman screaming in a courtyard on the 3800 block of North Pine Grove Avenue, near Pine Grove and Grace, in Lakeview.
Subsequent reports indicated a black male with his pants down, was dragging a white woman in a yellow dress, down the street.
After speaking with the victim, authorities further described the offender as a black man with a light complexion, about 5’9”, and 190 pounds.
The alleged, would-be rapist, who was wearing a light-colored polo shirt and blue jeans, was last seen running eastbound on Grace Street, toward Lake Shore Drive.
No further details are available.
Here, let's play "blame the victim" like they do on Halsted St. The chic in Uptown shouldn't have even been there in the first place. The one in Lakeview? "This is what happens when you're out that late" and/or she shouldn't have been that close to the "border" anyway.

ReplyDeleteYesterday I was walking north on the bike path from Burnham Harbor towards Navy Pier, and I happened upon two really dirty looking black guys with bikes, who were kind of hiding behind a tree. They were checking out the bikes, and talking about how much they might get for them. They had a pair of bolt cutters and were working on removing what was left of the lock.
You are right 7:52 what was she thinking wearying a bright eye catching color like Yellow? She should be wearing camoflauge and sneaking through the shadows to avoid detection.

why is it that the alleged rapist had to been on section 8? And why is it that the victims could not have been coming from work or going to? Its sad how people are quick to judge something they obviously (since none of you were there) know much about. I do agree with possibly trying to scare the guy off but not everyone who is out that late is a hoe or prostitute nor is every rapist on public assistance..

Chicago census for the neighborhood indicates the highest tract density of Whites being 5000+ whereas blacks are < 500 with the highest concentration located at.......wait for it...... The Section 8 high rise down the street from Hotel Chateau.

Besides the census my opinion is based upon years and years of living in the area and empirically viewing the wildlife. So my opinions rise above "mere opinion".

Seriously, if you have contributed to some form of support to reduce crime in your area, it might help bolster your image.

I owe nothing to the 10% in my neighborhood that do nothing but drag it down with their culture, nor do the 10% or less of my 'neighborhood' really constitute my 'neighbors'. You are operating under a serious bit of misinformation if you think anyone is "owed" anything. So on that note I don't owe anything to anyone except not to littler their lives with crime and annoyances.
