ReplyDeleteDifference between us & them is, many of us have something to lose.
ReplyDeleteIf you were a loser HS dropout who doesn't work and lives on gub't aid, what's the big deal if you do get caught & arrested?
But if you're college educated, working hard, actually raising your children (who you had in wedlock, with a spouse), you have something to lose if you get arrested.
Normally I don't post, but I need to speak about the elephant in the room. With the demolition of CHA projects and the occupants given section 8 vouchers, you now have that mentality all over the city. Rather than embrace the chance to move somewhere better, with better schools and safer streets, the most of these people see an opportunity to prey on the unsuspecting. Section 8 also has a program called project section 8 where the voucher holder is placed. If we were not going to do anything to help people better their lives, we should have placed them away from everyone the way they were in the projects. These people have been isolated and allowed to prey on each other for decades. They need more than a section 8 voucher to change things. I recall one young man saying to me "north siders are easy prey because we aren't accustomed to things like this happening." There are kids on the street during school hours and late night. Maybe we can start with holding the parents more accountable for their minor children. Lastly, for all of the politically correct, self righteous, OMG, did she say what I think she said, extreme libertarians,, yes, I said what everyone else is thinking. By the way before you call Jesse Jackson, I am a African American female who grew up on the south side of Chicago. Don't play the race card, which in my opinion, is an easy way to get out of dealing with the ELEPHANT IN THE ROOM.
