Did a mother of 3 commit a horrible murder-suicide over a failed relationship?
On Friday, December 16, 2011, 30-year-old Sara McMeen of Emington, Illinois, reportedly shot and killed her alleged boyfriend, 29-year-old Daniel Warren and her three children: 8-year-old Skyler Lemke, 7-year-old Ian Lemke, and 10-month-old Maggie Warren.
According to various news reports, neighbors saw McMeen and Warren arguing before the shootings.
One eyewitness said she saw McMeen shoot her 10-month-old daughter, Maggie.
It's been widely circulated in the media that McMeen and Warren were a couple, but just because two people share a child and live in the same house, doesn't mean they are "together".
According to Daniel Warren's Facebook page, he was still on the market.
The 29-year-old man, who was originally from Morris, Illinois, listed his relationship status as single and he recently updated his profile picture.
Sad. You've also got this whole "open relationship" thing occurring more and more these days amongst both gays and straights. I think it has to do with the economy. More people are "together" for various reasons, financial being one of them. Not that this is the case here, but. I'm content being "alone".

ReplyDeleteWhat's up with all the racist comments? This has nothing to do with race! We are a failed society as a whole... Depression is rampant, and yes this could have been prevented had there been some outside resources for this woman. Granted if she was so depressed... she should have taken her own life and spared the children. This is a sad, sad situation. Sometimes all someone needs is a hug and told that everything is going to be all right.
ReplyDeleteWhite, black, asian, native american, etc... this kind of stuff has happened in every race. Women need support after they have a baby for at least the first year. In a small town like this, I doubt that there were any support groups for mothers.

ReplyDeleteNot to be crude but, what kind of resources? I'm assuming you mean resources provided by other people, ie, some type of welfare - even if it is mental health welfare.
ReplyDeleteThis is a horrible story, but obviously this woman shouldn't have been pumping out babies with multiple people.
Again this is really tragic, but I think the root of the problem is people having babies that shouldn't be, rather than society failing the mom. These were the mom's kids, not society's.

Also, no one should have kids unless they know what it is like to be a parent which they wouldn't know until they have kids.
