Man robbed in Old Town neighborhood
Wednesday, October 5, 2011, at 10:40 p.m., a man on the 1200 block of North LaSalle, near LaSalle and Division, claimed a white male in a black leather jacket threatened to “harm” him.
Police later determined that the suspect is not white, but African American.
No explanation was given for the racial mix-up.
Furthermore, not only did the suspect threatened to “harm” the victim, he stole the victim’s bike, said police.
During the robbery, the victim observed something in the offender’s pocket that looked like a knife, said an officer at the scene.
Police identified the thief by name.
Investigators said the perpetrator frequents the area and possibly lives in the Marshall Field Garden Apartments at 1450 North Sedgwick Street.
The offender is about 5’8”, 170 pounds, and has a scar above his left eye.
