Shooting near North Side White Castle restaurant

Police are investigating a shooting on the outskirts of Chicago’s Edgewater Glen neighborhood.

Saturday, August 13, 2011, at approximately 11:49 p.m., a shooting was reported on the 5900 block of North Paulina Street, near a building behind the White Castle hamburger restaurant at 5940 North Ridge.

The exact location of the crime scene is 5935 North Paulina Street, said police.

According to dispatch, a man was found sitting on a bench with a gun in his hand; a pool of blood beneath him.

One source said it appeared the man shot himself in the chest. However, that eyewitness account has not been verified.

Other reports indicate investigators may be looking for a suspect or suspects.

Officials did not say the man was dead, or if the shooting was related to a suicide, but certain procedures following the incident, indicate authorities are investigating a homicide.

No further details are available.

  3. Yea that area is pretty chill because they aren't a lot of ghetto hood rats running around terrorizing people. Edgewater is one of the few places in Chicago that has managed to be relatively thug free.
