Man shot leaving Uptown grocery store


Shots were fired in Chicago’s North Side, Uptown neighborhood around 4:24 p.m.; leaving at least one man shot in the leg, said police.

Citizens reported gunshots at Sheridan and Sunnyside, Hazel and Windsor, and at Sheridan and Windsor.

One witness, who spotted a blood trail on the 900 block of West Windsor Avenue, reported it to police.

According to one source, the victim was leaving the M&M Grocery store at 4533 North Sheridan Road, when he heard the gunfire and realized he had been shot, said authorities.

The victim took off running, leaving behind a trail of blood from Sheridan Road to Windsor Avenue, said police.

One eyewitness account said the shooter fled the scene in a white Chevy. The car was last seen headed southbound toward the Uptown neighborhood Aldi grocery store at 4500 North Broadway.

Another tipster described the shooters as two black males riding BMX-style bikes.

Ambulance 31 took the shooting victim to Weiss Memorial Hospital at 4646 North Marine Drive, said police.

The injured man’s condition was not disclosed.

  3. A shooting on Windsor and Sheridan?! Oh my God! I live in that area! I am so sick of this mess I don't know what to do. I just moved here and now I may have to break my lease! I can't take this violence anymore!

  4. When I lived in Uptown a decade ago, I used to stop in M&M grocery store and buy snacks all the time. I wouldn't dare set foot on that bock now!!!!! There are too many suspicious looking black thugs in the area for my taste!

  5. It's just getting warmed up. Full blown civil unrest is around the corner. When the Euro collapses, the U.S. dollar will fall in right behind. Get used to it. It's going to be a bloodbath in the streets of America. All by design. Population control at it's best.

  6. I would like to know how these ghetto black afford the rent on the northside??? We are all paying alot in rent and mortgages and the black scum live up here on section 8 rent free. Keep the god damn black on the south and west side!

  7. Section 8 and SROs are some of the ways the undesirables moved into the neighborhood, but there are also a few CHEAP problem buildings in the area too. 4423 North Sheridan is one that comes to mind.

I think all this name calling about BLACKS is all played out everyone has a right to live where ever the hell they please not only on the south and west side I know there is a problem in uptown But blame DALEY he is the one that wanted mixed income in our community after all there is thugs of all races .
