Cops: Man who raped 5-year-old in West Ridge, found hiding on roof in Evanston


A man who allegedly raped a 5-year-old girl in Chicago’s West Rogers Park, West Ridge neighborhood, was reportedly found hiding on a roof in Evanston, Illinois, said police.

Around 12:24 p.m., a criminal sexual assault was reported on the 2100 block of West Howard Street on Chicago’s North Side, said authorities.

According to police dispatch, a male family friend was responsible for the alleged rape.

Police described the alleged offender as a 6-foot-2 male Hispanic wearing a white tank top, blue jeans, and carrying a red sweater.

After the purported crime, the suspect fled the scene northbound toward Evanston, in a red car, said police.

At approximately 2:29 a.m., the alleged offender was found hiding on a rooftop on the 1700 block of Brummel Street in Evanston, Illinois.

Evanston police brought the suspect to Howard and Damen, where he was arrested by Chicago police.

Chicago News Report ran the suspect’s name through the Illinois Sex Offender Registry, but could not find a match, based on the name provided by police.
