Man on North Side hit with brick during attempted robbery

A man on Chicago’s North Side, was hit in the head with a brick during an attempted robbery, said a Chicago police dispatch report.

The initial 911 call put the incident on the 7600 block of North Greenview, near Greenview and Rogers, around 4:33 a.m.

According to dispatch, several male black offenders attacked a male white victim.

The offenders were dressed in black or dark-colored clothing, said the report.

Moments later, around 4:37 a.m., a second dispatch call indicated the victim was struck in the head with a brick on the 1400 block of West Jonquil Terrace.

At 4:43 a.m., the victim, who was now on the 1700 block of West Jonquil Terrace, was bleeding from the head and requesting an ambulance, said police.

One attacker was described a black man, about 5’8”, and was last seen wearing a purple jersey.

Investigators said the assailant fled in an unknown direction.

Police did not provide a description of any other suspects.

The victim was taken to St. Francis Hospital in Evanston, Illinois, in unknown condition.
