There was a lot to celebrate at the 42nd annual Gay Pride Parade in Chicago, this year.
In addition to the political and social achievements obtained since the Stonewall Riots of 1969, gay and lesbian couples in Illinois, now have the right to enter into same-sex unions.
Although June 26, 2011 was a well-deserved day of jubilation, we should not forget the pioneers, who through their often tremendous sacrifices, made the road a little smoother for the rest of us.
