Multiple ambulances rushed to Lakeview alley

An EMS Plan 1 was initiated around 11:15 p.m., said police.

Five ambulances were dispatched to an alley behind Scarlet, a Lakeview neighborhood bar at 3320 North Halsted Street, near Halsted and Buckingham Place.

According to police dispatch, the emergency calls were related to a battery at that location.

  1. The smart people stayed away because they KNEW there would be trouble. It was already out of control during the parade, what did they think was going to happen at night? Halsted has already been experiencing trouble, today would only be worse. Duh!

  2. I was in Lakeview, from 1 till about 3, two blocks north of CUBS Park. There were large crowds, and some drunks, but all was peaceful and most folks were quite friendly.

Sadly, the heat added to the booze, and tempers flared.

Though no details on this incident are available, I'm still convinced that the drugs and gangs are at the nexus of this dilemma.

The same happens every year in Humboldt Paek, during the Puerto Rican Independence Festival, but they just shoot you and be done with it. As here, it's the DRUGS and the GANGS.

Add to this - while Alcohol use can be readily observed, how many of the "Revelers' at these large outdoor festivals are high on Grass, Crack, Cocaine, or some other substance?

It's the DRUGS and the GANGS!

  3. No worries. Just another Boystown shooting. Happens all of the time. Probably the "excessive heat." Whew! Hit the 70°s today.

  4. Yeah. It's the LGBT GANGS. THAT's the problem. Sheesh.

  5. The REAL trouble seems to be right about Halsted/Roscoe and to the south. Truly pitiful "transient youth'. So, it's quite apparent, as an "outsiders" point of view, that public celebrations on any level can't be "handled" on the south side, therefore getting a lil' taste of "diversity" and open air celebration has to be "enjoyed" elsewhere. It's not right, but it's o.k.

You've got some serious, serious racial tensions Chicago. This "liberalism" is NOT working.

  6. You know what doesn't help the racial tensions, Anon? Excessive use of quotation marks.

A lot (maybe most?) of those transient youth are not looking for trouble. They're looking for a place to be, like anybody else. A lot of them have been kicked out of their own homes for being gay, and are just looking for a place to be safe.

George, regarding the "grass," have you ever encountered violent groups of potheads? I'm guessing not.
