2 cops injured in separate North Side car accidents

A Chicago police officer was taken away in an ambulance, following a car accident in Chicago’s Lakeview neighborhood.

The officer, who was riding a motorbike, was struck on the 3400 block of North Clark Street, near Clark and Cornelia, around 10:51 p.m.

Preliminary information indicates one other vehicle was involved in the crash.

The injured officer was taken to Illinois Masonic Hospital.

Another Chicago police officer was hit by a car on the 5200 block of North Ashland Avenue.

The officer was struck near the intersection of Ashland and Foster, around 11:07 p.m.

If more information becomes available, this article will be updated accordingly.

  1. From what I understand there were at least 3 people involved in the Ashland one. Possibly two officers. The officer(s) were taken to Swedish, and the Civilian to St. Francis.

I hope that everyone involved in both sets of accidents turns out ok.

  2. One more update for you (got to love technology).

It was a police wagon that the car hit and that wagon had two officers in it who both went to the hospital, they have already been released. The one person from the other car is still in the hospital but it doesn't sound like that person is in serious condition.

Hopefully the officer that was on the motorbike is doing ok as well.

  3. From what I understand the police is at fault. It was the police wagon that hit the other car and both the victims from the other car are still in the hospital covered in bruises.

  4. "From what I understand the police is at fault."

If they had their sirens on, it was the cars fault. Guess you don't know the laws about sirens.

  5. Actually I'm all about the law and in all fairness that's why the police is at fault because they had no sirens on or lights for that matter when they took that red light.

  7. My name is Christian Ramos, and both my partner, Andres Feliciano, and I were in the Ashland, Foster incident. It was indeed the officers fault. I was headed S/B on ashland towards Lawrence, at the foster intersection with the green light. The cops which were 2, took a red light without sirens, or lights on, and I impacted them on the drivers back side, which was a Paddy Wagon, my car was totalled and we are now in process of suing. We are tired of these corrupt Chicago Police Officers getting everything their way. We are definitely standing up for our rights as U.S Citizens. For those of you concerned, thank you we are doing much better. God Bless
