Several shootings in South Chicago

As the temperatures heat up, so does the violence in the South Chicago neighborhood.

Two people, described as adults, were shot and seriously wounded on the 7900 block of South Escanaba Avenue. The shootings happened around 4:30 p.m.

According to police dispatch, one gunshot victim was taken to Stroger Hospital and the other victim was taken to North Western Memorial Hospital.

A motive for the violence has not been disclosed.

At approximately 6:14 p.m., a shooting occurred in a west alley on the 8000 block of South Manistee Avenue. It's unclear if anyone was shot, but investigators combed the alley for shell casings.

One source said the Manistee shooting was in retaliation for today's shootings on Escanaba.

Except for the fact that the gunman was wearing a mask, few details were given regarding his description.

Later in the evening, around 6:54 p.m., police were keeping an eye on a location at 8519 South Muskegon Avenue. Apparently, someone was shot and killed there last night, and a large crowd was gathered for a prayer vigil.

  1. If neighbors don't look out for each other and keep their blocks clean of falling-pants scumbags, they will also be shoot soon.Police always say:Report any criminal activities to 911.Then,why are 4-10 guys selling drugs in almost every corner or vacant buildings and nobody calls 911?Start by reporting any criminal activities before they come and shoot You too.

Hilarious introduction to the story. Yep, looks like the chickens have come home to roost in South Chicago! That neighborhood will make sure it gets its media shine this summer. Sad situation for all the innocent citizens there, but a even worst issue for the dispense of my hard-earned tax dollars.
