That is a very scary area and a very scary "L" stop and I doubt, even with all the "re-gentrification" they have been TRYING to do for years, will change.
ReplyDeleteBefore starting this blog, I had no clue there was so much violence in Rogers Park.
ReplyDeleteIn the 90s, I had friends who lived near Sheridan and Pratt. They seemed to enjoy living in the area.
rogers park is a sh*t hole
ReplyDeleteIt has gotten a better over the years, but it is still overall not the best area to live in. Edgewater has a lot of the same issues as well, although not to the degree of problems over by the Howard L stop. There has been a lot of Gang activity going on in both Rogers Park and Edgewater with large groups of kids starting fights or attacking people. Very little gets reported though in the news.
ReplyDeleteSorry "Anonymous@9:30am, But I would take Edgewater any day over Rogers Park. The things I have seen in Rogers Park made my already white hair turn even whiter. I lived there, by the lake, for a couple years until I finally couldn't take the criminal element roaming around there and gave up a wonderful apartment. I have friends that live there and don't like to go visit them. Seems to me, not much has changed. Move 1 mile south and the attitude and mentality completely changes. Sadly, Edgewater is nestled in between Uptown and Rogers Park so we get the spill over. The difference is that the Edgewater community and the Alderman, don't put up with it and nip it as fast as they can.
ReplyDeleteIs Edgewater perfect? Hell no but I'll take the fourth safest ward in the city any day over Rogers Park.
I agree with towanda 1000%. :)
