Several people pepper sprayed, maced at Lincoln Park bar

Police and emergency workers rushed to a North Side club after several people were reportedly maced.

According to police dispatch reports, the incident occurred around 2:16 a.m. at the Max Bar, 2247 North Lincoln Avenue in Chicago’s Lincoln Park neighborhood.

A motive for the chemical attack was not disclosed.

A woman, who may have been the intended victim, could be heard screaming in pain over the police radio. Officers at the scene said the woman may have bore the brunt of the chemical assault.

A male victim was taken to a nearby hospital. But it isn’t clear if he went by ambulance, or other means.

A description of the offender or offenders was not released.

On February 17, 2003, twenty-one people died at the E2 nightclub after someone sprayed pepper spray. The patrons panicked and started a stampede. Many of the those who died that day, were crushed to death.
