Possibly gang-related shooting in Logan Square

Around 9 p.m., gunshots were fired in Chicago’s Logan Square neighborhood, near the intersection of North Drake and West McLean Avenues.

Initial reports indicated the shots were fired by three Latin King gang members in a black car with tinted windows. The vehicle was last seen going southbound on Drake from McLean Avenue.

Officers in the area saw a man with a light complexion wearing a gray ski cap, a grayish-blue jacket, and white gym shoes, fleeing the scene via an alley on the 3500 block of West McLean Avenue. Police described the man as approximately 20-years-old, 5’7” to 5’9”, and about 140 lbs.

Investigators lost sight of the suspect and were unable to detain him for questioning.

At approximately 9:44 p.m., a Chicago police officer spotted a black Oldsmobile with tinted windows, running through stop signs at Central Park and McLean. The driver was a male Hispanic wearing a baseball cap, said police.

Because of the driver’s erratic behavior, police believed he may have been involved in the shooting.

Authorities stopped the Oldsmobile at 3409 West Belden Avenue and questioned the driver. It’s unclear if an arrest was made.

No injuries were reported.
