On November 2, 2010, an Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer was arrested for DUI. David Dinsmore was off-duty when he crashed his patrol car into a mailbox on the 7100 block of East Edgewood Avenue in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The IMPD officer reportedly told dispatch he wrecked his vehicle while trying to avoid a dump truck.
When an officer arrived at the scene of the crash, she found Dinsmore fast asleep with a bottle of pills shoved down the front of his pants. The bottle contained Oxycontin; a powerful painkiller, prescribed for Dinsmore's back pains.
The allegedly inebriated officer was charged with public intoxication and operating a vehicle while under the influence.
On November 3, 2010, video surfaced of a police car swerving down a highway, not too far from where Disnmore slammed his police cruiser into a mailbox. Although the officer has not been positively identified as the driver of the tipsy police car, it doesn’t take much effort to jump to conclusions.
