John Sparks, Chicago Marine, Killed in Afghanistan
23-year-old John Sparks from the south side of Chicago, joined the military to secure a solid future for himself. When his tour of duty was over, Sparks planned to become a police officer.
Sadly, 8 days after he arrived in Afghanistan, the Chicago marine was killed in an ambush.
His funeral will be held tomorrow at 10 a.m. at Roberts Temple Church. Which I believe is located at 4021 S. State Street.
