On September 5, 2010, around 3 am, two men were arrested after allegedly beating a uniformed Loyola University police sergeant. Reports indicate that the officer witnessed an assault in progress - when he intervened, he was beaten and kicked by the alleged offenders.
The incident occurred on the 6400 block of North Sheridan Road, in Chicago's Rogers Park neighborhood.
The officer was treated at Saint Francis Hospital in Evanston, and released the same day.
Even though Rogers Park has been experiencing a lot of gang-related crime, some people in the area are wondering if the attackers were Loyola University students. I have heard from several people who claim to have had problems with the university's students.
