Shots Fired at the Home of Retired Police Officer

UPDATE: At 12:40 am, media swarmed the scene.

12:19 am -- Chicago police officers responded to a call of shots fired at the home of a retired police officer, on the 7100 block of West 63rd Place.

The officer’s caretaker, reported the shots. When an officer arrived on the scene, she also heard gunfire. Police tried to gain entry into the retired officer‘s home, but no one would answer the door.

When an officer looked through a window, he spotted an elderly man, armed with a gun, and using the assistance of a walker. Eventually, officers were able to get inside the home.

No physical injuries were reported, but an ambulance was called to the scene.
